Personal Story:
My interest in solar probably goes back to when I was a young boy who liked to play with electricity. Now I am a semi-retired environmental engineer with a passion for protecting the environment for future generations. As an environmental advocate, I see the value of solar energy as part of an environmentally and economically viable solution to America’s energy needs. Additionally, using solar increased our awareness of how we consume electricity. My wife Bonnie and I have reduced electrical household demand substantially through energy efficiency and conservation measures. This means the solar equipment will supply much of what we need.

My interest in solar probably goes back to when I was a young boy who liked to play with electricity. Now I am a semi-retired environmental engineer with a passion for protection the environment, and someone who still likes to tinker, only now with off-grid solar. As an environmental advocate, I see the value of solar energy as part of an environmentally and economically viable solution to America’s energy needs. We found that one of the benefits of using solar is that it makes us think about the planet we live on. Additionally, using solar increased our awareness of how we consume electricity. My wife Bonnie and I have reduced electrical household demand by 50 percent, and have the goal of installing a professional photo-voltaic grid-tied system on our future retirement home. The balance of our electrical needs is currently supplied through wind energy credits.
