October 16, 2017 Webinar: Solar for All Opportunities

This webinar discussed the development opportunities associated with the Illinois Solar for All program, which is designed to expand access to solar throughout Illinois. Amy Heart from Sunrun educated participants about the incentives and requirements to participate in the low-income solar program. Solar for All includes incentives for low-income rooftop solar, low-income community solar, as well as non-profit and public facility projects. Also discussed were ways to support workforce development in underserved communities through the Solar for All program. Shannon Fulton from Straight Up Solar provided information on the benefits to your business on becoming a B Corp. B Corps are a new type of company that use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.

October 12, 2017 Business Member Policy Webinar: Long Term Renewable Resources Plan

This webinar included an overview and discussion of the draft Long Term Renewable Resource Plan due to be released on September 29th. Brian Granahan, Chief Legal Counsel for the Illinois Power Agency, will provide a review of the plan and be available to answer questions. This is your chance to learn about the new solar programs that will become available in 2018 and is not to be missed!

August 2017 Business Member Policy Webinar 8/22/2017: Smart Inverter 101

As part of the passage of the Future Energy Jobs Act, investor-owned utilities will begin offering financial incentives to distributed solar systems equipped with smart inverters. Learn from industry experts about the basics of smart inverters and the challenges and opportunities to implementing policies that enable the inverter’s numerous services. The webinar was led by panelists Brandon Smithwood from SEIA, Jason Bobruk from SolarEdge Technologies, Jeff Kwan from the California Public Utilities Commission, and Kenneth Boyce from UL.

March 2017 Business Member Policy Webinar 3/8/2017 on the 2017 DG Procurement Process.

Unlike past DG Procurement events, the IPA will accept both Identified and Speculative systems into the bid, so this event will be similar to past DG Procurements, but with some elements of the Supplemental Procurements.

Part 1 will be open from March 28th to April 5th, with submission due to aggregators by April 3rd

Submissions will need to include Letters of Intent, system details for individual projects including contact info and system size.

DSIRE - Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency.  Your one stop shop to learn of federal and state incentives, including descriptions, applications, and contact information.


The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) is a premier resource for current information, education, credentialing and best practices regarding renewable energy. IREC is a non-profit organization creating renewable energy programs and policies targeted at the adoption of uniform guidelines, standards and quality assessment.


Net Metering & Interconnection
The Illinois Attorney General website provides basic information and resources about net metering and interconnection.  An important thing to remember is that the state policy only applies to publicly owned utilities (ComEd, Ameren, MidAmerican Energy).  Municipal and co-op utilities can create their own policy.


U.S. Energy Information Administration
Website with statistics and technical data about energy.  Shows where IL energy is derived, locations and names of power plants, and much more.
