  • 12 Aug 2021
  • 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
  • Zoom - https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZckc-qqqzgoGdAtn3i0xAzZoWjGtsciKEVB

The Illinois Solar Education Association is proud to present a new webinar discussing solar for public buildings!

Join us on Thursday, August 12th at 2 PM to learn about the processes in place for towns and municipalities to invest in solar, as well as the impact using renewable energy has had on operations. Since every installation is a little different, this presentation will feature two speakers - Daniel Hebreard, President of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, and Sarah Grammer, Normal Township Supervisor - and will be moderated by ISEA's Solar Ambassador Jeff Gahris.

Register for the webinar here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZckc-qqqzgoGdAtn3i0xAzZoWjGtsciKEVB

Daniel Hebreard is a lifelong DuPage County resident. After earning a bachelor’s degree with honors in parks and recreation management from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he worked for two local recreation departments before joining the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County as a ranger in 2005. While at the Forest Preserve District he earned a master’s in business administration from Benedictine University.

He and his wife, Donna, have two children and live in Woodridge in a home powered entirely by solar energy. Dan also drives an electric car. He looks forward to bringing more solar-powered amenities to the forest preserves and developing trail connections that will make it easier for residents to access and enjoy the preserves.

Sarah Grammer holds a degree in business administration and ran a small family business before being elected Normal Township Supervisor in 2017. As Supervisor, Sarah has worked diligently to provide assistance to residents experiencing financial hardships. Sarah also dedicated herself to expanding and enhancing the Normal Township Activity & Recreation Center (ARC), which provides access to fitness equipment, wellness activities, as well as recreational, socialization, and educational opportunities to community members aged 55 and over. She increased assistance levels to prevent struggling families from having utilities disconnected or being evicted. She led a 3,500 square foot addition to the ARC and oversaw updates to the HVAC system and the implementation of solar power — all without increasing property taxes.

Jeff Gahris is a long-time ISEA Solar Ambassador, and a recent elect to the Forest Preserve District board of commissioners in Nov. 2020. A 30-year resident of DuPage County, Gahris has been an active volunteer for numerous organizations in addition to ISEA, including the Sierra Club’s River Prairie Group, the DuPage Clean Energy Coalition, and Citizens Climate Lobby. He worked for state and federal agencies implementing Clean Air Act programs and regulations for 36 years before retiring.

Gahris has a masters degree in environmental science from the Institute of Environmental Sciences at Miami University. He and his wife live in Wheaton, where they have solar panels installed on their roof.
