ISEA is excited to present this webinar on PACE legislation, led by Aaron Kraus of Greenworks Lending and David McEllis of ELPC!

Aaron has more than ten years of experience in the energy policy and markets space. He current serves as the Director of Market Actiation and Policy for Greenworks Lending. Greenworks is a rapidly growing firm focused on financing clean energy, energy efficiency, energy storage and water improvements for the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) segment of the market. The firm utilizes the innovative public/private partnership financing tool of Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) to reduce the cost of capital, create credit enhancement and improve project cash flow. Greenworks is the largest Commercial PACE financing provider in the country.

Prior to Greenworks, he was a Director of Policy and Electricity Markets for SolarCity (now Tesla Motors), one of the largest solar and energy storage developers in North America. He led national policy activities for the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) segment of the market. He focused on legislative and regulatory activities while building broad coalitions of partners and stakeholders. In addition to federal, state and local government affairs matters, he worked on project diligence and market development.

Earlier in his career, he was a member of the energy practice of Booz Allen Hamilton, where he worked on third-party financing mechanisms for renewable and energy efficiency projects, natural gas procurement, and energy-related legislative and budget matters for the U.S. Department of Defense.

Aaron received his graduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland.

David McEllis is a Government Affairs Representative working on Illinois legislative issues. He previously served in the Office of the Illinois Senate President John J. Cullerton from 2012-2016. He was the lead Senate Democratic staffer for the Senate Energy and Public Utilities Committee, and the Senate Labor Committee.

SOLAR 2017 is the American Solar Energy Society’s 46th annual National Solar Conference. It will be held at the University of Colorado, Denver, October 9-12, 2017. It will include technical sessions, forum discussions, plenary panels, workshops, fast-paced switch~ presentations, public solar displays, and networking events.

SOLAR 2017 is an integral part of the two-week U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon, being held in Denver Colorado. The Solar Decathlon challenges collegiate teams to design and build full-size, solar-powered homes that push the limits of innovation in a series of 10 contests.

The winner of the competition is the team that best blends design excellence and smart energy production with innovation, market appeal, and energy and water efficiency.

In addition to SOLAR 2017, ASES is working with the Solar Decathlon organizing team to maximize interest in solar energy through sustainability and educational workshops and festivals.  The Solar Decathlon and related events will be happening October 5-15.

“Building Toward a 100% Renewable Energy Community”
This 2017 theme underscores our close connection with the Solar Decathlon which is all about buildings, our ASES mission of enabling a 100% RE society, and the importance of ASES as a community building as well as knowledge sharing organization.

    PV 201 (PV Site Assessment)

The Site Assessment Certificate Program is a program of the MREA offered through the Illinois Solar Energy Association (ISEA), a recognized training provider. The MREA/ISEA  Site Assessment Certificate Program trains individuals to provide site-specific renewable energy assessment and consumer education. Since August of 2012, the PV Site Assessment Certificate Program has been accredited by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC).

The MREA /ISEA Site Assessor Certificate provides skills training needed by professionals engaging consumers in renewable energy systems for their homes and businesses. Site assessors evaluate the energy consumption of a household or business, as well as the solar or wind resource at the location. They help clients understand system options and their benefits. They work with clients to recommend the site and size of the solar or wind system that will best fit their needs. Site assessors also estimate system production and identify the cost, incentives, and financing options available.

    Course Description
Participants in this eight-hour course will learn how to perform a PV site assessment for a home or small business. The course will cover site assessment tools, load analysis, energy efficiency recommendations, array placement options, basic system sizing, cost estimates, and evaluating existing infrastructure on site. Participants will learn how to access online tools for solar resource analysis, PV system performance calculators, and incentives.

    Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
    • Use site assessment tools
    • Size a PV system
    • Recommend a PV system type to meet a home or owner's goals
    • Identify and recommend steps for energy efficiency
    • Perform a load analysis
    • Identify and recommend array placement options
    • Quantify the solar resource
    • Provide a general cost estimate
    • Write a PV site assessment report
    • Use web-based performance calculators
    • Provide installer and equipment vendor information

    Prerequisites:

Basic PV (PV 101) or equivalent

    Fees:

    For ISEA members: $265

    For non-members: $295*

*You can become an ISEA Individual Member for $45 a year to receive the member rate, in addition to other membership benefits. Learn more by clicking here.
