2008 Workshop Offerings

The ISEA is pleased to offer another year of Solar 101 and Wind 101 workshops!   We have received positive feedback on our past workshops like this:

"Thanks again for putting on the Solar 101 presentation Saturday - it was very helpful and covered a lot of ground at just the right level and pace."  Mark S.

"We have signed a contract to add thermal to our house and are inches away from adding a 1KW PV system too!  Who would have thought your Solar 101 would have such an effect on us?" Matt and Lisa W.

Who Should Take The Workshops?

If you are a homeowner or business owner and are considering buying a solar electric, hot water, heating or wind powered energy system, then you will find our workshops are a great educational opportunity to help you make an informed decision. The workshops also provide a good base understanding of solar energy for organizational or community leaders that wish to advocate its use and for professionals that perhaps want to enter the field vocationally.

What Do The Workshops Cover?

The Solar 101 and Wind 101 Workshops are designed to provide prospective buyers and others desiring comprehensive and generic information about solar and wind powered systems.  Topics include:
  • How these systems work
  • How well they work in Illinois
  • Comparing performance and value between different kinds of technologies and systems
  • Determining economic cost and value of systems
  • Policy and incentive issues
Important Workshop Information
  • All workshops will be given on Saturdays.
  • Each workshop day has Solar 101 in the morning and Wind 101 in the afternoon.
  • Solar 101 workshops start at 9:30am and run to 12:30pm (unless otherwise indicated).
  • Wind 101 workshops start at 1:30pm and run to 4:30pm (unless otherwise indicated).
  • Please be prompt so the workshops can begin on time.  There is a lot of material to cover and generally a lot of good questions from the participants.
  • Take one or the other or BOTH workshops (to save on gas/travel time).
  • ISEA membership is required to attend.  Participants can join the ISEA when registering for the workshops.
  • ISEA membership dues are tax deductible to the extent of the law, the workshop fees are not.
  • On-line registration is highly preferred (see below), or else postal mailing a printed form with your check is accepted as well.
  • On-line payments (via Credit Card or PayPal) are highly preferred.  If you are paying by postal mailing a check, still register online.  In this case, your check must be received by ISEA within one week of your registration date to complete your registration.
  • Registration fees include workshop handouts and refreshments for all participants.
  • Registration fees must be received by ISEA by the deadline of one week before the workshop date (whether paying online or by postal mailed check) to hold your seat.   Registration is not complete until we receive your payment
  • Registration for each workshop will be first-come first-serve, so register as soon as you decide to attend a workshop to reserve a spot.  We will be displaying the number of remaining spots frequently on our website.
  • Cancellation policy: refunds will be given up to one week before a workshop date (minus a 15% cancellation fee).
  • We understand that unforeseen scheduling conflicts arise, so rescheduling to a future workshop may be done at no cost (up to two reschedules).  Please let us know as soon as possible that you will not be able to attend a workshop you have registered for so we can offer your spot to someone else.
  • Registration fees are $49 per person/workshop.
  • If multiple people attend from a group (family or business), other people from the group can register at $39/person/workshop.  Only the first person from the group must be an ISEA member to qualify the whole group.
  • Online copies of the handouts in Powerpoint format will be available to all participants after the workshop.
